Vintage post-card from Libya displaying the flag of the Kingdom of Libya. This flag has been resurrected since the spring revolution. Starting February it will be displayed as the official flag worldwide.
The three color design is modeled after the flag of the short-lived Emirate of Cyrenaica, which was black featuring a white star and crescent. In 1951 King Idris, who was the former Emir of Cyrenaica, added red to symbolize the blood of the victims of the fascist Italian rule, and green to symbolize independence.
